Waukesha Public Library Celebrating Library of the Year Award

Entertainment, food and door prizes will be at Saturday’s event.

The Waukesha Public Library is inviting the public to celebrate it being named Wisconsin Library of the Year by the Wisconsin Library Association from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event will include entertainment, food and door prizes, according to a news release.

From the library’s news release:

The noteworthy library projects cited in the nomination included the renovation and expansion of the Children’s Area and the award-winning 321 Alphabet Square, a unique learn and play space, the remodeled Teen Zone, the Public Art initiative, the Waukesha Reads partnership and the development of the CAFÉ (catalog access for everyone) system which now has been ‘gifted’ by the library to the Waukesha Federated County Library System.

The library was judged on five criteria: changes or improvements in physical facilities resulting in better service, structure of library service including development and participation in networks and systems and cooperative planning and programming with other types of libraries, user oriented services, collections based on sound selection policies, and development of opportunities for professional growth and job satisfaction for all employees.
