Waukesha Police Officer Honored for Nabbing Robbery Suspect

Justin Rowe, a Waukesha police officer, noticed a suspicious person at George Webb's on New Year's Eve, leading to charges in the GameStop robbery.

The Waukesha police officer who noticed a suspicious person near George Webb's on New Year's Eve, leading to the the person's arrest for armed robbery at GameStop, was recently honored by Police Chief Russell Jack.

The following letter was written by the chief to the police officer.

Officer Justin Rowe
Waukesha Police Department
LETTER OF COMMENDATION

On Dec. 31, 2012, you were on routine patrol and observed a subject acting suspiciously in front of George Webb’s Restaurant.  You stopped the subject and began speaking with him but he was not able to dispel your suspicions about what he was doing in the area. Because of your keen attention to detail, you noticed that the suspect was wearing a ski mask on the top of his head and was wearing similar clothing to the suspect who committed an armed robbery at Game Stop on Dec. 21. You also determined that the subject’s physical description was a close match to that of the suspect who robbed Game Stop and that he lived in close proximity to that store.

Because of these factors, you asked the subject if he had any weapons and he advised that he had an air soft pistol, which looked identical to a real gun. Your subsequent arrest for loitering led to his confession to Detective Feyen for the Game Stop robbery, and an admission that he was intending on robbing George Webb’s until you intervened.

Because of your tenacity and attention to detail, you prevented a robbery from occurring, cleared a previous armed robbery, and got a dangerous criminal off the street. Your actions that day are truly commendable and greatly appreciated by the Waukesha Police Department and the Citizens of Waukesha.

Sincerely,
Russell P. Jack
Chief of Police
