Waukesha Police Arrest 2 in Early Morning Burglary

Business owner monitoring remote cameras spotted two people in the gas station after receiving a burglary alarm.

A business owner thought the burglary alert at the Hop It Market, 1610 Lincoln Ave., was just a false alarm at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

But when he checked the gas station’s cameras remotely, he saw two people inside.

The Waukesha Police Department set up a perimeter at the business with the assistance of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Waukesha County Regional Bearcat, which is an armored rescue vehicle, according to a news release from Capt. Ron Oremus.

Two people – a 29-year-old Brookfield man and a 25-year-old Colgate man – were arrested at 5:35 a.m. when they exited the convenience store. Authorities were monitoring the video feed inside the store, and at one point, the men were crawling on the floor, according to the police call log.

Police have not released the identity of the men.
