Waukesha Native Stephanie Schimel Eliminated From 'American Idol'
Stephanie Schimel made it to the final 21 girls on Season 12 of the FOX show but was eliminated.
Stephanie Schimel's run on American Idol ended Thursday night with a performance of "Home" by Phillip Phillips.
The 2010 Waukesha West High School graduate had her second chance on Idol — despite anything Nicki Minaj had to say about her in the Chicago auditions. The judges favored Schimel in the begining, except for Nicki Minaj who said Schimel didn't "wow" her.
The Schimel made it to Hollywood on Season 10 and was eliminated in the first round.
"I made it to top 21 girls! I had so much fun being part of Idol this year!" she wrote on her Facebook page. "Thank you all so much for the support! :D Blessed!"
Schimel, who lives in Tennessee, told Waukesha Patch she’s been singing for “as long as I can remember.” She taught herself to play the guitar in middle school and the ukulele in high school.

I admit a strong bias, but I am really proud of Stephanie's poise and maturity through the whole thing. She is a really talented young lady and a genuinely good person.

It's is ridiculous that, that freak show zonette made it through instead. They are totally going for ratings.

Watching Idols from all the way on the southern tip of Africa, I was stunned that Stephanie didn't go through, especially compared to some of the other candidates chose for bizarre style over substance. Hopefully tho', with this exposure, this talented young lady will have the great career she deserves.
