Waukesha Man Running for 98th Assembly District Seat

UPDATED at 12:30 P.M.

A Waukesha Republican has announced candidacy for the 98th Assembly District – a seat that was just won by the incumbent Paul Farrow.

But because Farrow is moving to the State Senate – pending any write-in candidates in the special election Dec. 4 for the uncontested 33rd Senate District race – the assembly district seat will be vacant. Matt Morzy has decided to run for the Assembly.

Morzy was giving his speech at his wedding in May when he urged people to go out and vote for Gov. Scott Walker during the upcoming recall election.

“Politics has always been a passion for me, something I have always been interested in,” said Morzy, who is resigning from his position as a manager at Scottrade in Brookfield at the end of November to focus on his campaign.

Morzy said he’s been motivated by what Walker and the other Republicans are doing in the state, which is why he decided to seek election.

“I want to make sure I can do what I can to contribute to that to make sure that we keep that process going and keep improving the state of Wisconsin,” Morzy said.

Morzy already has a Facebook page set up for his election. He is currently nearing completion in his Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Marquette Universit.

A special election date has not yet been announced.

Farrow won two elections Tuesday night – the 98th Assembly District and the 33rd Senate District primary. The 33rd Senate District seat was vacated earlier this year by former Sen. Rich Zipperer. Zipperer was appointed as the deputy chief of staff and senior counsel for Gov. Scott Walker in July.
