Waukesha Man Accused of Growing Pot Plants

Suspect had nearly $17,000 worth of marijuana plants growing inside his home when police served a search warrant.

A 35-year-old Waukesha man is facing felony drug charges after he allegedly ran a marijuana growing operating inside a residence in the 1500 block of Dover Drive, according to a criminal complaint.

Wade C. Pivett was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of manufacture and delivery of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, one count of possession with intent to deliver THC, one count of maintaining a drug trafficking place and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to nearly 16 years in prison and $30,500 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police executed a search warrant Dec. 8 at the home where officers discovered 21 marijuana plants inside a plywood grow room in the basement of the house. Police also discovered seven bags of marijuana seeds weighing a total of 227.5 grams.

Pivett told officers he began growing marijuana about six months ago to make money, starting with four plants. He also told officers he had a quarter-pound of marijuana inside the dishwasher of the home.

The plants found were valued at $16,800 and the marijuana found inside the home was valued at $3,200.

Pivett is currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $7,500 cash bail.

Such creative and sensationalistic prosecution... Now why and to whom would these scraggly looking plants be worth $16,800? I suppose they have weighed the dirt and accompanying waste material and called all of it THC in order to make the proverbial mountain out of a mole hill.
