On June 14, Beres was a passenger in a car pulled over in the 800 block of North 27th Street in Milwaukee for an expired registration. During the course of the traffic stop, the officer was concerned that Beres may be armed due to the way he was acting, so he frisked him and found a hypodermic needle in his pants pocket.

Beres then admitted to having heroin in his shoe, which was later located inside his right sock.
