Waukesha Election Official Running for County Clerk

Gina Kozlik, the deputy/clerk treasurer for the City of Waukesha, announces she will run as a Republican.

Another Republican candidate for Waukesha County Clerk has announced her intent to seek election.

Gina Kozlik, the deputy clerk/treasurer for the City of Waukesha, said in a news release she “decided to enter the race because I know I can accomplish positive change for Waukesha County.”

“Waukesha deserves a reliable, experienced professional to move the county forward,” Kozlik said. “I am confident I can get the job done.”

Highly scrutinized and criticized Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus announced last weekend that Kozlik joins two other Republican candidates seeking the nomination – Kathleen Novack and Kathy Karalewitz. If all three candidates are successful in collecting nomination signatures, the Republican primary will be held Aug. 14.

A Democrat, Jessie Read, plans to run for election in November.

Kozlik’s been the deputy clerk/treasurer in Waukesha since August 2008 where she has been in charge of the city's election process.

"Every municipal clerk in Waukesha County is dedicated to the integrity of the election process, and I plan to carry that dedication forward to restore public confidence at the county level,” Kozlik said in the prepared statement.
