The following press release was issued Friday by Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima

The Civic Volunteer Corps (CVC), an initiative of the mayor’s office and Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, offers citizens a new “one-stop” connection to volunteer service opportunities within the City of Waukesha community.

Mayor Scrima said: “This is a new user-friendly way for the common citizen to be the light that they want to see in Waukesha by starting small, starting here and starting now. Together our light will shine!”

City projects in need of volunteers include work in the areas of park and public facilities, special events and the Adopt-a-Park Program.  Painting, wood chipping, trash pickup, gardening, playground installations are samples of work available for volunteers. 

Communitywide special events are in need of volunteers, such as Waukesha JanBoree, July 4 parade, Trailbreaker Marathon, Waukesha Reads, Movie Nights and more. 

The City of Waukesha has more than 45 parks that can be cared for through the WPRF Adopt-a-Park program, through ongoing cleanups, invasive species removal, and park improvements.
