Two people involved in a drug transaction were arrested by the Waukesha Police Department following an arranged purchase and a car accident, according to a news release from Sgt. Jerry Habanek.
Detectives were arranging to purchase $4,200 worth of marijuana from a dealer at 5 p.m. Friday. During the attempt to arrest the dealer and the dealer’s accomplice, the two fled the scene in a vehicle, according to the news release.
The detectives followed the dealer and the accomplice and the accomplice was dropped off with the marijuana on Plaza Court, Habanek said.
The passenger fled into Home Depot, 2320 W. Bluemound Road, while the driver struck a vehicle that had two other people, Habanek said.
The driver fled the scene but was soon arrested by police. No injuries were reported in the hit-and-run accident, according to the release.
The accomplice was located and arrested as he was leaving the store, Habanek said. The marijuana was located in Home Depot during a search by the employees, the Waukesha County K-9 Unit and Waukesha police officers. The K-9 Unit located the drugs
“The Home Depot store was not involved in the drug transaction in any way and was a great corporate partner in assisting the police during the search,” Habanek said in the release.
