Man Charged With Pulling Sword On His Sister
Suspect became upset after he was asked to hand over his father's keys to his sister, according to criminal complaint.
A Town of Waukesha man is facing charges accusing him of pulling a sword on a family member during a dispute about returning his deceased father’s keys, according to a criminal complaint.
Samuel E. Toporek, 33, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Tuesday with one count of disorderly conduct-domestic abuse with use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could face up to 90 days in prison and $1,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police were called Monday to a home in the S5700 block of Crest Drive after Toporek refused to give his father’s keys back to his sister when she asked for them and then pulled a sword and pointed it at her during the altercation. The victim was able to push the sword away from her and run but cut her hand in the process.
Upon arriving police found Toporek outside with a jacket around his shoulders and a steel sword inside a sheath.
Their father had died just two weeks ago, the victim said, and a set of keys were found inside Toporek’s jacket.
He made his initial appearance in court Tuesday where he was assigned a $2,500 signature bond.

He could face 90 days in jail, not prison. Prisons are state facilities for sentences over 1 year.
