Table Tennis-Themed Sports Bar Proposed for Waukesha

Thumpers Sports Bar would be modeled after Spin in Milwaukee.

Could ping-pong make a comeback in Waukesha?

The Waukesha Plan Commission is being asked by Keller Inc and Hawkmoon Development to approve plans for a new 15,000-square-foot sports bar that would be modeled after Spin in downtown Milwaukee, according to documents filed at City Hall.

Thumpers Sports Bar is being proposed to be located on the north side of Lincoln Avenue west of the Les Paul Parkway. The Plan Commission will review a conditional use permit for the business, as well as preliminary plans.

In addition to around a dozen table-tennis courts, a document in City Hall boasts that Thumpers will also have:

  • Tournaments and contest
  • A Pro Shop
  • Restaurant
  • Bar
  • Lounge
  • 2 private event rooms

“Thumpers will be catering to both youth activities during the days, hosting a wide variety of school events, youth tournaments and contests, as well as many unique and exciting adult activities for the evening hours,” the document states.

Thumpers is estimated to need to hire between 25 and 35 employees. Its proposed hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The Plan Commission takes up the proposal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Isn't the HOP-IT Market on the "north side of Lincoln Avenue west of the Les Paul Parkway"? Or is this that chunk of land next to the Golden Corral?
