U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin Will Run for Senate
Madison Democrat says she'll seek Sen. Herb Kohl's seat in 2012 election.
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin of Madison announced Tuesday that she will run for U.S. Senator Herb Kohl's seat in the 2012 elections, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
In her announcement video Baldwin speaks of looking out for seniors and the middle class instead of Wall Street. She also links herself to Kohl and former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, who said he would not run for the open Senate seat.
Former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann entered the Senate race last week. Democrate U.S. Rep. Ron Kind of La Crosse is considering running, and so is former two-term U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen of Appleton.
Baldwin was first elected to Congress in 1998.
