Small, Playable Guitars Arrive as Part of Gibson GuitarTown Project
Fifteen guitars will be placed in downtown businesses.
The 15 playable guitars that will join 10 10-foot guitars to form Gibson GuitarTown in downtown Waukesha made their arrival Friday afternoon at Waukesha State Bank.
The GuitarTown project has already received initial government approvals for the project from the Public Art Committee, Plan Commission and Board of Public Works. Lynn Gaffey, who is in charge of selecting the artists’ designs for the GuitarTown project, said the artists will be announced after the Common Council approves the project.
Norm Bruce, media spokesman for the project, said the playable guitars will be located in businesses in the downtown to keep the guitars from being stolen.

Good start. Now take the ball (guitar) and run with it! Painted or little guitars don't make a guitar town. It's not about the Gibson guitar, its about the music. Let Downtown Waukesha Rock all year round. In doors, outdoors in the parks on the streets. Now that is something I would even like to come and experience.

Downtown Waukesha rocks! Thanks to the Downtown Business Association and the West End Artists groups who brought us the Friday Night Lives and Art Crawls. And with the high quality businesses like People's Park and River's End Gallery, the rhythm downtown will only get better!

Harmless enough. It seems to be keeping the artsy west end types from freezing in place in front of their galleries or at their homes in Pewaukee.
I have asked 10 average Waukesha citizens about this and 8 had no idea what I was talking about. The other two were aware but indifferent.
OK as long as NOT ONE DOLLAR OF PUBLIC MONEY is spent on this.

This project is a great way to celebrate - celebrate our history of Les Paul, celebrate our vibrant music and arts community downtown today, and move Waukesha forward into tomorrow! Check out the other cities that did this: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/ArtistsAndEvents/Guitartowns/

OK, relatively speaking . . . harmless enough as someone else said. Go for it!
