Scott Walker Announces Credits, Incentive for Waukesha County Company
Connecture, in City of Pewaukee, is adding 100 jobs as it moves its headquarters from Atlanta to the Waukesha area.
Connecture, a health insurance software company with offices located in City of Pewaukee, announced Monday that its moving its headquarters from Atlanta, GA, to Waukesha County. The move will add more than 100 new jobs to the Waukesha area.
The State of Wisconsin has agreed to contribute $1.2 million in tax credits and incentives over a three-year period, Gov. Scott Walker said during a news conference at the Connecture offices Monday afternoon.
“These are not just jobs,” Walker said, adding that they are high-paying jobs in a technological field.
Walker, using words from his campaign for governor, said he hopes the announcement shows to other employers in the state that “Wisconsin is open for business.”
“It is not just a slogan, it is not just a sign,” Walker said. “It is something that we need to show each and every day. “
Walker’s visit at Connecture was not without a small group of protestors, who were chanting anti-Walker sayings outside the business.

Why would anyone protest when there are jobs coming to wisconsin?? I noticed in that the protestors are covering their faces with signs. The guy holding the megaphone looks the same size and build as the guy that was holding a megaphone rallying the protestors at Hart Park during the Walker Rally. Too bad you don't have a picture of his face, I could compare with my video!!

Just saw the guy's face (with the megaphone) on TV. It is the same guy that was holding a megaphone rallying the protestors at Hart Park during the Walker Rally. I wonder is this his normal job???

I wonder if the 100 jobs are worth $1.2 million? I am guessing it will be if we can keep them here past the three-year period. Interesting that Pewaukee could beat out Atlanta. Atlanta has better infrastructure, lower taxes, better weather and is the hub for the whole Southeast. Connecture's customer list is spread out over the country, so I don't think that is the answer. I also wonder why there is no mention of this move on Connecture's web site.

Obama Care created these jobs here in Wisconsin according to the article attached. I question why a company who already has its headquarters here, is moving its base to Wisconsin to cash in on ObamaCare federal funding offered $$$$, and is also now getting even more, 1million+ tax dollars$$$$, from our governor who's against the Federal government and Obama Care? "Free" Enterprise does not mean all our State Tax Dollars, does it? Read; http://www.chrysalisventures.com/2011/05/atlanta-firm-considers-move-to-waukesha/

There is an unsettling trend emerging with Scott Walker's announcements of special treatment for out of state companies. I couldn't help but put together the pieces in this article:

Is this a sustainable strategy or is he selling the farm for small political victories? Interested to hear what others think about this strategy.
