Remembering Nayyer Rana

Gas station clerk who died from gunshot wounds Tuesday morning is remembered by customers for being a nice man who would greet them with a smile.

Hours have passed since gas station clerk Nayyer Rana was shot and killed by an unknown suspect, but it’s clear from the many comments on Patch.com and on our Facebook page that he made an impression on the customers who purchased gas, soda, coffee and candy from him.

Rana, 56, never made it out of the gas station today. Police are seeking more information about the homicide and are asking anyone who has details to contact Detective Neumann at 262-524-3818.

Patch has attempted to contact the gas station owner to learn more information about who Rana was but the owner was busy with investigators. Here are some of the comments we’ve received about Rana:

  • I did not know him personally, but I do know that whenever I went in there, he was a very nice man, greeting customers with a smile. My condolences to his family and friends. – Trinette H. via Facebook
  • He was a very kind person, always said hello and have a nice day. My prayers are with his family. – Michelle O. via Facebook
  • I always go to that gas station every morning. The guy was so nice, it’s so sad to see this happened. It breaks my heart. My prayers go out to the family. He was such a wonderful man. It's scary that something like this happened in such a small town where I live. – Loving Mother via Patch.com
  • My heart goes out to the family of the man that went to work last night and never made it home. – Andrea Rindo via Twitter

Hi Heather, there is. The information is in the main story, but a memorial fund to help the family with expenses is at Landmark Credit Union.

Friends and family are also offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime.
