Pro-Choice Women's Political Group, Emily's List, Endorses Kathleen Falk

Democratic group has more than one million members and has helped elect hundreds of female legislators across the nation.

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, and gubernatorial hopeful, on Thursday received an endorsement from a political group dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office.

The group, Emily’s List, has raised more than $86 million for female candidates since 1985 and has more than 1 million members nationwide, according to the group’s website. Emily’s List President Stephanie Schriock said Falk is the ideal candidate to stand up to the “radical Republican agenda, and get things done in Wisconsin.”

“Our country is at risk of having no female Democratic governors in office at the start of 2013,” Schriock said. “Our states – grappling with economic challenges and at risk of being manipulated by far-right social agenda at the legislative level – need the leadership priorities of pro-choice Democratic women, beginning with Kathleen Falk.”

Just over a week ago, Falk also received an endorsement from the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC). The announcement from WEAC was based on a democratic selection process conducted by teachers and staff across the state.

“We cannot afford to sit back,” said WEAC President Mary Bell. “Our state must focus on jobs, improving education and helping citizens. Kathleen Falk is ready to bring people together to find solutions, instead of tearing people apart as Walker has done.”

Falk was the first Democratic candidate to enter the recall election and is facing state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout for the Democratic nomination. State Sen. Tim Cullen dropped out of the race on Feb. 1.

Falk, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and former U.S. Rep. David Obey top the list of favored challengers, according to a Public Policy Forum poll released in January. The poll has Barrett pegged as the frontrunner to challenge Walker, with results having him leading Falk 46 to 27 percent and Obey 42 to 30 percent in a potential head-to-head race.

However, Mayor Tom Barrett remains undecided whether he will seek a rematch. Barrett isn’t expected to make a decision until the April mayoral election.

The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board has not made a final decision on whether a recall will proceed against Walker. The agency is still reviewing the more than one million signatures submitted on recall petitions.

Curiously, though, she shows up nowhere on Angie's List.

Currently there are 4 female Republican governors in this country. Hmmm, I thought liberals were the party of diversity? And another liberal myth exposed!

Please list the "leadership priorities of pro-choice Democratic Women" so we may all share in the knowledge.

Why is it necessary to have a woman in office, if for no other reason than to have a woman in office? Are women always this irrational and emotional?

Please list for me the "far-right social agenda" and why you have a problem with it.

“We cannot afford to sit back,” said WEAC President Mary Bell. “Our state must focus on jobs, improving education and helping citizens. Kathleen Falk is ready to bring people together to find solutions,"

Does this mean Kathleen Falk has no solutions to the problems that Mary Bell has identified? More importantly, will Kathleen Falk implement actual solutions that will work, like Governor Walker, or will we get more tax-hell oppression and hate by Government Corporate Employees against Private Corporate Employers? Chasing productive employers out of Wisonsin has evolved into a State Sport promoted by the Corporate giant WEAC and their radical President, Mary Bell. Who will fund the radical agenda of Mary Bell when all the "Evil" Private Corporations have left the State?

More specifically they want someone registered as a doctor to do it, while the republicans want "no one" to do it, "no one" being a dude in a back alley with a coat hanger. Close, real close.

Did Emily's List just steal the thunda out of WEAC's endorsement?

Looks like your classic smoke screen to try and deflect away from Falk's written pledge of support to her true masters, which surprisingly isn't mentioned anywhere in the article. Thankfully, someone uploaded an image of the pledge, which can be viewed in the above photos - I wonder who that was? ;-)

But honestly, who really cares who Emily's List or WEAC is backing? What most Lib-Dems are really waiting on are the endorsements from Michael Moore and Jesse Jackson! And given the current field of Dem candidates, I have a feeling that they'll probably end up backing Trivedi.

If we didn't have the African Americans and Puerto Ricans we would have no baseball , and if we had no Asians we would have no uniforms. Well, Gov. Walker was warned that any additional requests for delays would be closely scrutinized. That fresh $700,000 cash infusion should indeed hire a few people. The creation of temporary jobs is an unexpected benefit of the recall.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

I disagree. The distribution of wealth is becoming too top-heavy, such that the consumer classes are becoming unable to buy enough goods to keep the system going. You can argue that the very rich spend more money, and they do, but ultimately one person can wear only one pair of pants at a time, drive one car at a time and live in one house.
