If the robber were a smarter thief he would open his own payday advance center. Those scumbags make a fortune preying off of the working poor with interest rates of anywhere from 500-1000%. How these places successfully managed to lobby to government for legalization of this otherwise corrupt and predatory business is truly baffling. In this particular case the robber AND the "victim" belong in prison.

Nobody is forcing anyone to use those places. It doesn't take much to go and open a checking account at any of our local banks or credit unions.

"Check cashing" is little more than a front for these places. They're loan sharking operations that take 15% or more of peoples earnings to let them have their money one week earlier. That comes out to about 780% APR.
