Plans for Fire Station No. 2 Gets Commission's Approval

Police substation will be located in $3.4 million fire station relocation project.

The Waukesha Planning Commission unanimously approved the final site plans on
Wednesday night for the construction of Fire Station No. 2, located at 1714 Pearl St.

The 14,000-square foot facility will feature six apparatus bays, as well as seven dorms, kitchen and dining space, offices and a weight training room. In addition, a police substation will be located at the site.

The exterior of the masonry constructed building will include glass block windows toward the back of the apparatus bays and LED lights in the parking area and on
the building.

The estimated cost for relocating the fire station from its previous location at 1701 Stardust Drive is $3.4 million. However similarities in design to the previously constructed Fire Station No. 5 have resulted in some savings for the city, according to architect Al Theis.
