Editor’s Note: The following information was provided to Patch via Waukesha Optimist Club President Jerry Habanek.

On Saturday, the Waukesha Optimists held their annual swim meet where more than 600 students from the Waukesha public and private schools competed in this event, making it the largest single Optimist International event in Wisconsin.

The students who compete in this event are from third, fourth and fifth grade.  There were competitions in diving, plunging, 25-yard freestyle, 25-yard backstroke, 25-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle, and a 100-yard relay.

Optimist Swim Event Manager Joe Jackson reports the following team totals:  first place, Summit View Elementary School with 488 points; second place Waukesha STEM Academy-Randall with 211 points;  third place tie between Bethesda Elementary School and Prairie Elementary School with 194 points each.

The Optimists would like to thank their sponsors who help make the event a reality:  Piala's Nursery and Garden Shop Inc., Alliance ENT and Hearing Center, Albanese's Roadhouse, Center Street Securities and Andrew LaVoi, and Randle Dable and Brisk Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services.
