Waukesha firefighters cut the ribbon at the new fire station.

Firefighters from Station No. 2 moved into the new building on Pearl Street in December and city officials celebrated the move Thursday afternoon.

Tours of the new facility followed a unique ribbon cutting. Instead of scissors, a Waukesha firefighter drove the truck through the yellow tape.

The fire station was moved to Pearl Street from Stardust Drive to equalize response times throughout the city while addressing an aging facility at the department. The project has come in under its $2.6 million budget, according to Assistant Fire Chief Steve Howard, however final budget numbers are not yet available.

Total waste of money! This was built because the remaining female member of the council had her nose out of joint because the other female member got a new station in her westside district. This kind of thing ensures that the tax rate remains high in Waukesha!
