Elementary and middle school students show their creativity at Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop.
Waukesha children had the chance to compete to see who was the best pumpkin carver Saturday morning at Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop on Highway 59.
Sponsored by the Waukesha Optimist Club, the elementary and middle school-aged kids brought their best work to shine for judges Steve Fisher, the fine arts coordinator for the Waukesha School District, and Allison Olson, an art teacher at Waukesha South High School.
The winners of the contest in the junior high level were:
- First place; Anna Reinhard, Waukesha STEM Academy-Saratoga Campus
- Second place; Pearl Hess and Juliana Ream, Central Middle School
The winners of the contest in the elementary school level were:
- First place; Ben and Gwen Lipinski, Banting Elementary School
- Second place; Izzy Schneider and James Homann, Hillcrest Elementary School
- Third place; Hallie Halquist and Brittany Malsack, Lowell Elementary School
- Fourth place; Alicia McBride and Mia Bond, Hadfield Elementary School
- Fifth place; Rocco Boggio and Joey Guenther, Prairie Elementary School
