Pewaukee Police Chief Baumann Declares Candidacy For 98th Assembly Seat

Republicans Adam Neylon, Jeanne Tarantino, Todd Greenwald, Matt Morzy and Democrat Eric Prudent are also running for the seat.

Village of Pewaukee Chief of Police Edward Baumann declared his candidacy on Thursday for the 98th Assembly district, joining a handful of candidates vying for the seat.

“I am looking forward to continuing my life-long passion of service to others. I am not a politician, but a problem solver and coalition builder," he said in a statement. "I pledge to be ‘For the People – First and Forever.’”

Current 98th Assembly Rep. Paul Farrow won the 33rd Senate District seat during a Dec. 4 special election. A primary for the 98th Assembly seat will be held Feb. 19. The election will be held April 2.

In addition to serving as Chief of Police for the Village of Pewaukee for 38 years, Baumann was a coach at Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School and subsequently inducted into the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches’ Hall of Fame.

Republicans Adam Neylon, Jeanne Tarantino, Todd Greenwald and Matt Morzy announced that they are running for the 98th District seat that includes Sussex, Pewaukee and portions of Waukesha (see map).

Eric Prudent, who lost earlier this month against Farrow for the 98th District seat, will be running as a Democrat.

Looks like myriad candidates for the district I live in, the 98th. But only one has all the qualifications to be the best candidate to represent me and my family and all my neighbors and the entire 98th District, ADAM NEYLON.

Keith, why don't you let everyone know that you work for Neylon and that you are the person who leaked privileged information to uber-liberal Daniel Bice at the Journal Sentinel about Tarantino? You are also using the name Paul Ryan Rocks on that jsonline story. What a coward and a horrible example of a conservative you and Neylon are for doing that to a competing candidate. It is neanderthals like you that set our party back a hundred years. I hope you get blackballed out of the GOP when people realize how bad you made Walker and Kleefisch look. Please do not elect Keith Best for the Waukesha GOP position that he is slobbering all over to get.

ImConservative, do you have proof of what you are saying? Besides, how credible are you? You are yourself hiding under an alias. Identify yourself, show your evidence, then I may pay attention to you.

ImConservative should be ashamed of themselves. There is absolutely no evidence linking Neylon or Best to "leaking privileged information". In fact, Dan Bice himself denies it, and we've also learned that Ms. Tarantino's attorney never even bothered to file a motion to seal the file until after the story hit. So anyone could have found those details, because they were free and open to the public. It's a shame that Ms. Tarantino has people attempting to slander honest, trustworthy conservatives because she can't defend her comments accusing Gov. Walker and Lt. Gov Kleefisch of committing crimes while under oath. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/188389991.html And she wants to represent us in Madison?

And, ImConservative, I just read Tarantino apologized to our Lt. Governor for what she said. So she said it. Do we really want in Madison someone who badmouths the administration? Think not. And you are hiding behind your anonymity to slander Keith's character. Before you say I also have an alias here: 1) I am not the one saying lies about Keith Best. 2) If you want to know who I am, ask... most of my friends know who Rican Princess is... and I will tell you, after you tell me who you are.

I haven't made up my mind on who to vote for. But I'm coming really close to eliminating one candidate for consideration.

I don't think Keith Best did anything, but maybe we should ask him if he knows who did?
Not sure if you live in the 98th district, but the primary is now the actual elction. The one Democrat that was going to run dropped out.

I will pull a "Hillary" on this one: Does it make a difference if he knows who did? Because the bottom line is, Ms. Tarantino DID say the things the article speaks about. She apologized to Rebecca Kleefish for saying them, and they were said in a manner that became a public record.

@RP1
Ronald Reagan is shaking his finger at you.
Yes, it does make a difference how low and slime ball some Republicans will go to trash each other while the Democrats stand on the side lines and laugh.

Anyone else have some dirt to sling?

I've thought about joining the Republican Party. I'm not so sure now. There's something lacking in the higher road image that is suppose to seperate the 2 parties.

Steve, the "dirt", as you call it, is already out there. By also trying to throw the dirt at another Republican for leaking it when no one has proof of that, that is what Reagan will be wavering a finger about. What if the information was leaked by someone who has nothing to do with the Republican Party? I guess we will never know.

"I guess we will never know."
If you don't know you stand a 50/50 chance of being wrong which amounts to gossip.
Using this personal attack tactic to better another candidates position within the party by his supporters is wrong. Each of the other candidates should have publicly denounced the release of someone's divorce transcript as a smear tactic as wrong. Apparently the other candidates have no problem with this.
I think the voters might have something to say about this.

You are the one gossiping. You don't know that any candidate was responsible for releasing the information, and if you know without a doubt, why don't you show your evidence and enlighten us all?

Nobody said another candidate was responsible for releasing the divorce transcripts and other documents.
RP, if this tactic suits your pallette of life choices, best wishes to you.
I think it's scummy and sets a really bad example for the next generation.

Steve, you are missing the point. If you read the entire thread and have bee following these issue, you would see it has been insinuated that someone associated with a candidate was responsible for leaking the info to Bice. No tactic suits my palette. You know what they say about those who assume.
