Obituary: Willard B. “Bill” Dahle

Dahle, 85, served in World War II and will be buried with full military honors.

Willard B. “Bill” Dahle, of Mount Prospect, IL, died on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Waukesha, WI at the age of 85.

He was born in Florence, SD on Feb. 23, 1926, the son of the late Melvin and Hilda (nee Rukstad) Dahle. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret (nee Brevig) on April 15, 1999.

Bill proudly served in the US Navy during World War II serving in the Philippines. He graduated from Watertown High School in South Dakota and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.  Bill worked for many years in the food manufacturing industry in the Chicago area. He was vice president of the Sokol Company until his retirement in 1992 where he remained on the board of directors.  He was a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect, IL.

He will be sadly missed by his three sons: Doug (Michele) Dahle of Spring Branch, TX, Craig (Lisa) Dahle of Fairhope, AL, Mark (Kim) Dahle of San Antonio, TX and his wife Kathleen (nee Niegelsen) whom he married on October 14, 2000, and her children: Steven Reiske of Tampa, FL, Scott (Richele) Reiske of Muskego, WI, Teresa (Randy) Chappa of Shorewood, WI, and Shawn (Jill) Reiske of Mundelein, IL.  He is further survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his sister Norma (the late Glen) Hunter of Watertown, SD, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, from 4 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. funeral service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Burial with full military honors will be held at Helgen Cemetery in Florence, SD.  If desired, memorials are appreciated to Special Olympics of Georgia, 4000 Dekalb Technology Parkway Suite 400, Building 400 Atlanta, GA 30340 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 S, 76th Street Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.
