OBIT: Jay A. Weinkauf

Former Dousman president also served in the Air Force.

Jay A. Weinkauf, of the Village of Summit, died unexpectedly at his home, on Aug. 31, 2011, at the age of 65.

He was born on Dec. 9, 1945, in Milwaukee, the son of Leland and Velnetta (nee Button) Weinkauf.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 until 1972.  On Jan. 13, 1968, he married the former JoAnn McIlhone in Waukesha.  He was a manager at Unisys from 1972 until 1993 and was then employed at Johnson Controls until his retirement in 2008.  Jay was the Village of Dousman President from 1986 until 1995.  He started the Dousman Athletic League and was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Kettle Moraine Booster Club and American Legion Post 375 in Mukwonago.

He will be sadly missed by his wife JoAnn of the Village of Summit, along with their children Neil (Pam) Weinkauf of Waukesha, Keith (Crystal) Weinkauf of Lomira and Kha (Bang) Uong of Stanton, CA.  Dear grandfather of Samuel, Riley, Mitchel, Mikayla, Madeline, Samantha, Zachary and Dameian.  Beloved brother of Mary (Gary) Jorgensen of Mukwonago, Jerry Niegelsen of East Troy, Kathy (Bill) Dahle of Mukwonago, Jeff (Nancy) Weinkauf of Waukesha, John (Donna) Niegelsen of Oconomowoc, Joseph (Nancy) Weinkauf of Mukwonago, Jill (John) Howard of Sunrise, FL, Tim (Carla) Niegelsen of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jennifer (Rick) Wagner of Davie, FL and Sonia (Ken) Halverson of Waukesha.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his stepmother Beatrice Weinkauf.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Bruno Catholic Church, 246 W. Ottawa Ave. in Dousman.  Graveside services with full military honors will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Waukesha.
