Do Not Pass Go: Jail Fight Breaks Out Over Monopoly Game

Inmate attacks another man who made a joke about a game of Monopoly being played inside the Waukesha County Jail.

"Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200."

It's a phrase that's immediately linked to the well known game of Monopoly. But a 42-year-old Waukesha man playing the game at the Waukesha County Jail could see additional time behind bars.

And there's no "Get out of Jail Free" card for Scott D. Slater, who is accused of punching another man in the jail after the man made a joke about Slater playing Monopoly.

On April 30, Slater was in jail playing Monopoly with several other men when the victim came up to them and made a joke about playing the game and gambling. Slater got upset with the man, began to swear at him and threatened to pull off his wig.

The victim went to another man and told him what had just happened and Slater overheard the conversation. Slater grabbed the man by the neck and punched him in the jaw. The victim got away and was questioned about the incident.

He will make his initial appearance in court Sept. 10.
