No Injuries in S. Grand Ave. Fire

The Waukesha Fire Department puts out fire that started Monday afternoon.

The four people who were inside a house that caught fire Monday afternoon made it out of the home unharmed.

“They all go out fine,” said Battalion Chief Steve Ore. “They said that they heard the thunder … and all the power went out in the home.”

When they left the house after the lightning strike, they started to smell the smoke from the fire, according to Ore.

The Waukesha Fire Department extinguished the fire, which occurred around 3 p.m. on South Grand Avenue between Sunset Drive and Baird Street. The fire department was just leaving its training site when the fire was reported.

The fire remains under investigation but its origin appears to be near the electrical panel.
