Muskego Police Sgt. Arrested in Waukesha Domestic Abuse Incident

Authorities were called to Waukesha home after it was reported Sgt. Chad Dornbach was intoxicated and had attacked a woman, according to police records.

Muskego Police Sgt. Chad Dornbach was arrested by the Waukesha Police Department on Tuesday after authorities responded to a domestic disturbance on South Porter Avenue, according to Waukesha’s police call log.

Police were called to a home on South Porter Avenue at 4:31 p.m. Tuesday for a report that Dornbach had attacked a woman at the home. The woman declined an ambulance, but reported that Dornbach was intoxicated, although he did not have a weapon, the call log states.

Dornbach has been placed on administrative leave pending a review of the incident, according to Muskego Police Chief Paul Geiszler.

In addition to Waukesha Police Department’s criminal investigation, Geiszler said he has asked the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department to conduct an internal investigation into whether Dornbach violated department policies and procedures.

"Once we get a better understanding of the incident, we will be able to determine what course of action we will be taking internally," Geiszler said.

Dornbach has worked for the Muskego Police Department for more than 12 years. He has been a sergeant since 2007, according to the police department’s website.

Muskego police don't believe in domestic abuse, child abuse or child molestation. Trust me, this will get written off.

As a police officer this guy should have known better. Even if she got violent first, which is usually the case, a man has no right to defend himself in his home anymore IF the person attacking him is someone he lives with. If it's someone he doesn't don't know then you have the castle doctrine which actually gives you the right to kill that person, but if its his wife or girlfriend he can forget pushing her away or fighting back in any way... all he can really do is flee the scene of the attack and call the police himself.
