Updated at 11:10 p.m. Sunday

Firefighters from about a half dozen area departments are responding to a farmhouse fire this afternoon near Big Bend Road and Landmark Drive.

The fire started in the basement near the hot water heater, according to CBS 58.

A large amount of smoke can be scene from what appears to be a house fire. Scanner reports indicate that the fire broke out on the first floor of the building around 3:30 p.m.

At about 4:45 p.m., emergency personnel were seen putting one firefighter into an ambulance. One firefighter sustained a minor injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Among the departments responding to the blaze are City of Waukesha, Wales/Genesee, Big Bend, Tess Corners, North Prairie, Town of Vernon, Mukwonago and New Berlin.

As of 4:45 p.m., there is no word on the cause of the fire or the extent of damage, or whether anyone was in the structure at the time.

Additional firetrucks from area departments were called to the scene around 5 p.m. with extra water supplies. Trucks previously on scene were leaving the area and filling up with water from hydrants about a mile from the fire.

Patch will update the story as more details become available.

Had this been a McMansion with all their trusses, I-Joists and fake wood, the only thing left would have been the foundation.
