Man Blames Attempted Theft on Rare Flower

Man caught trying to break into a semi trailer says he was looking for a flower for his girlfriend, according to criminal complaint

A 33-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he was caught trying to break into a semi trailer but blamed the incident on looking for a flower for his girlfriend.

Adam R. Montney was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Friday with one count of attempted theft. If convicted, he faces up to 4 ½ months in prison and $5,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 4:44 a.m. Thursday, an employee at Bluemound Express saw Montey trying to break into the trailer at the business. When he approached Montney, he ran away toward an apartment complex near Shepherd Court where he was later arrested.

Montney admitted to being at the business, but said he was looking for a rare flower he planned to give to his girlfriend when he was chased off by an employee.

The complaint did not specify what species of flower Montney claimed to seek.

He’s currently free on a $750 signature bond while awaiting trial.

Sounds like the guy in an old beer commercial standing next to a beer truck, caught with a case in his hands saying, "It fell off, I was just putting it back". LOL!

Is the trailer damaged from the break in attempt? If not there is no case against this guy without a confession, except maybe for trespassing.

If he had removed the seal on the trailer, it shows intent and yes he is guilty of at least attempted theft.
