Teenage girl tells Milwaukee police officers a Waukesha man sexually assaulted her after he spent the day at her stepfather's home grilling out and watching the Packers game, according to a criminal complaint.
A Waukesha man is accused of sexually assaulting a friend’s 14-year-old stepdaughter after a day of drinking and watching the Packers game at a home in Milwaukee, according to a criminal complaint.
Michael Wilkins, 32, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday with one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child less than 16 years old. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
In fall 2011, Wilkins went to a friend’s house in the 4400 block of North Hopkins Street in Milwaukee where he and other friends drank, grilled out and watched the Packers game before he decided to spend the night due to past drunk driving convictions. The next day Wilkins, his friend and the victim all went golfing and at that time the man noticed Wilkins hug the girl, who appeared stiff at the time.
Later, the girl told authorities the night after watching the game, Wilkins asked her for a hug while he was laying down to sleep in the living room and she gave him one, but he then kissed her. She thought he fell asleep and she feel asleep on a sofa, but woke up later to Wilkins performing a sex act on her.
She kicked his shoulder, but Wilkins advanced the sexual act despite her asking him to stop. Another friend woke up at that time, but didn’t see the actions because it was quiet, but the girl said Wilkins stopped, then laid very flat on top of her.
She said the next day she went golfing with Wilkins and her stepfather and even though she tried to stay away from Wilkins, he told her “It’s our little secret,” which made her fear what would happen if she reported the incident.
Police interviewed Wilkins on Nov. 29 and he said he was “pretty faded” after the day of drinking and smoking marijuana at his friend’s house the day of the 2011 incident. Wilkins said he didn’t remember having sex with the teen girl, but apologized for his actions.
Wilkins is currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $3,000 bond and has been ordered turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program for monitoring.
According to court records, he resides near Prairie Elementary School.
