Carroll has rebuffed efforts of the Obama campaign to engage students at all, even the Black Student Union has to meet with Obama volunteers off campus. As an alumna, I am beyond disappointed that my alma mater has clearly chosen a side in this election, and that side is against equality for women and the LGBT community. How do you explain to the LGBT students, Dr. Hastad, that their school is on the side of people who wrote discrimination into their party platform and want a Constitutional amendment making them second class citizens forever?

@Kristin - first I've heard of this - proof/links?

It’s odd that Kristin would comment here to stand up against what she thinks is discrimination directed towards the LGBT community by the GOP. Yet, she seems to have no problem with the Black Student Union, which by its own name would appear to discriminate against anyone who isn’t black.

@Kristin - I'd still be interested if you have any proof, but I'm assuming this was a drive-by comment meant to stir the pot.
