Letter to the Editor: Support Karalewitz in County Clerk Primary Election

The Republican primary election will be held Aug. 14 as candidates look to replace outgoing Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus, whose mistakes in office has been controversial.

To the Editor:

On Aug. 14, Waukesha County residents have to select a county clerk candidate to move onto the General Election on Nov. 6. We need to elect a county clerk who has experience running elections. There are three candidates in the primary in August and only one candidate has 25 years of experience running elections in this County and that is Kathy Karalewitz. The other two candidates in the primary have a total of three years of election experience combined!

Waukesha County residents cannot risk electing another clerk who does not know election laws. We did that a decade ago and that didn’t turn out so good!  Kathy Karalewitz is the former deputy county clerk under former County Clerk Patricia Madden. Kathy Karalewitz can walk into the clerk’s office on Jan. 1, 2013, and begin to fix the problems because she already knows what is wrong.

While Kathy and Pat were in the clerk’s office, they implemented countywide election equipment and software, and election results were accurate and timely.  That needs to happen again and Kathy Karalewitz is the only candidate on the Aug. 14 ballot who has the knowledge and experience to fix the clerk’s office beginning on day one.  Vote Kathy Karalewitz on Aug. 14. Let’s get an experienced Clerk to restore the trust and integrity in our elections.

Kathleen Madden,
Town of Ottawa

Pat Madden is Kathleen Madden's Mom, Kathy was Pats' Deputy 15 years ago, So naturally they all support each other. Experience with Software and machines 15 years ago? really. I think we need someone with more recent experience running large municipal elections.

It is interesting "While Kathy and Pat were in the clerk’s office, they implemented countywide election equipment and software.."
You forgot to mention that in 2006 Kathy Karalewitz decided to deviate from that earlier decision and bought equipment different than all the other municipalities in the County. That is why Menomonee Falls results have had to be entered by hand since 2006. It was a poor decision Karalewitz made.

"Karalewitz is the only candidate on the Aug. 14 ballot who has the knowledge and experience to fix the clerk’s office beginning on day one."
Karalewitz has no experiance with equipment used throughout the County because she is still using the equpment she bought with Madden in the 90s. She is the only candidate on the ballot AUG 14th that uses election equipmment from the 90s.

Vote Gina Kozlik on AUG 14th the only candidate with personal knowledge and experiance on how to run the election machines used throught the County.
