Kendal Lofts Construction Impacts Main Street Traffic

The new Kendal Lofts project has caused some issues for drivers.

Construction of the Kendal Lofts project on the corner of West and Main in downtown Waukesha, which had stalled last January, now crosses into the street.

Drivers must attempt to maneuever the orange barrels that line the two-way Main Street as they turn onto West Street from Wisconsin Avenue.

The Main Street bars will see a bustle of activity for St. Patrick's Day, so the construction may become an issue if it's as busy as expected.

When the Waukesha Plan Commission approved the development of the 42-unit apartment building, it was met with concerns about the lack of parking availability in that area.

Although construction on the project had stalled, the opening is now scheduled for the summer of 2013.

Just what we don't need is more apartments.

Thanks Scrima
This is a stupid apartment building. Not enough parking spaces. The tenants will be parting on the street. Thanks Jeff Scrima, you are a waste.

I have to agree this was a foolish place to put a high end apartment building. To have no parking available for the tenants is ridiculous. But Scrima isn't the only one to blame. The Plan Commission and Alderman Patton(this is his district) should have never allowed this to have gone forward. Why was it approved in the first place? I think it's safe to say that "money does talk" in this town. As far as the having to navigate around the orange barrels, we've all been doing that for months. What's so special about the drunken crowd on St. Patricks Day? It's a two way street, they can go the other way.

Let's not argue against progress.

This building has built-in internal parking (and the downtown has public parking lots and under-utilized parking structures).

These Third-Ward style river lofts are designed to attract young professionals and baby boomers!

Thats good to hear about the parking, but looking at the facade, I guess i'm missing where the parking is. I'm hoping that being built across from a rooming house n Waukesha's bar blocks won't be a deterent. Just don't see it.

There is a thing called underground parking!! Not so sure why this is bad? Oh, and by the way you are really going to complain about construction barrels in the road. That must be sooooooo inconvenient for you. I think the goal here is to make downtown Waukesha a bright, busy, urban, exciting, and trendy place. A destination... if you will. Instead of complaining about luxury apartments going up, lets tear down that trashy rooming house to make room for bigger and better. An apartment complex like this will have full occupancy. People that will call it home will have money, and they will spend money. The downtown scene will only benefit.
