Any information on the suspected vehicle? Make, year, color?

I asked but police are not releasing that information yet due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

What is with these people. Dogs are like family. I'm a dog lover myself. I have a dog of my own.

Surely there is some camera surveillance to assist in this case. This particular block and intersection appear to be problematic for a number of reasons.

Pedestrians don't have a chance in Waukesha. There are a number of lights where the timing is so bad it is impossible to make it across the street on one light change and you would need to be sighted to complete. College and Grand is one. Plus the drivers just do not LOOK when they turn. They are anxious to complete their turn. How sad for that lady. A service dog is an expensive aid to replace, to say nothing of the emotions involved.

Just a note: Police are not releasing the woman's identity. They did indicate she wasn't blind.

The woman I mentioned is NOT blind...has a service dog to serve her many needs when in her wheelchair.

What kind of person runs down somebody and their service dog and drives away? People are disgusting.

This was my mother, she loved her dog. After my father passed away in 2008 her dog was her best friend and companion. If anyone has any information, please report it to the police. It makes me sick this happened in my hometown of Waukesha, a city I love.

Your mom has my deepest sympathy on the loss of her beloved friend and companion. The drivers in Waukesha are just terrible at pedestrian crossings...many of them who I know personally are really nice people otherwise...go figure??

Jim - I'm so sorry your Mom is injured and that she lost her best friend in this hit and run. I hope they find the creep who did this.

I know this lady & Knowing how much she loved her dog & how proud she was of him for being a service dog this is going to be a very hard loss for her to bear. This is going to be devastating for her. Please have patients with her. This dog meant everything to her. I am so sorry this happened.

To say this in a nice way... People please stop guessing on who it is. No information will be posted here on who it is at this time. Sooner or later everyone will know who it is. Now on another note. I was outside on break when I heard this and I seen the SUV slow down and then drove away. at the time I did not know what he hit for I did not have a clear view. Shortly after I found out I thought she was going to be ok. However now reading that she lost a dog she is not going to be ok for a long while. My heart is breaking for hearing that a animal lost their life. The person who who did this should be charged not only for hitting her but also murdering her "child". Who ever this lady is I will keep her in my prayers. I am sorry for her lost.

I understand people are asking about the woman's identity out of concern for someone they think they may know but the woman's name is not being made public because she's been the victim of a tragic crime.
I have been humbled reading the words of support the community is offering to the woman and touched by the amount of sympathy and concern shown here for her. I hope that show of support continues.
To the woman: please accept my condolences on the loss of your beloved dog. As a life-long dog and pet owner, I know how much our animals mean to us but I can only imagine your pain in these tragic circumstances. I hope for your healing, physically and emotionally.

Any time a Human is run down by a car & the person does not stop to render aid it is a Tragic Crime. This woman was seriously injured! The fact that her beloved dog was killed was important to her!
