Herman Cain Stumps for Tommy Thompson at Waukesha Rally

Former presidential candidate says former Wisconsin governor's the best candidate in Wisconsin for U.S. Senate.

Herman Cain, a successful executive and businessman and former Republican candidate in 2012, endorsed former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate on Sunday in Waukesha.

"Tommy doesn't just talk the talk. He walks the walk," Cain said in a news release. "Tommy's the only candidate who's eliminated an entitlement and revitalized an economy through tax cuts and spending restraint."

The rally, held at the Republican Party of Waukesha County’s headquarters on Pearl Street, was overshadowed by the . Still, dozens of supporters were on hand to see Thompson and Cain.

While Thompson is campaigning for the Republican nomination against businessman Eric Hovde, State Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and former Congressman Mark Neumann. All four candidates were also at the Romney-Ryan rally in Waukesha.

While Thompson finds out Tuesday if he advances to the November election to take on Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, the hype at Thompson’s rally surrounded Ryan getting selected as the vice president nomination for Romney’s campaign. Ryan’s new role in Romney’s campaign is “fantastic” for Wisconsin and for the nation, Thompson said.

“The double-Rs – Romney and Ryan – goes with the double Ts – Tommy Thompson,” he said.
