Group Announces Artists for Waukesha GuitarTown Project

Artists were recognized at a special reception at Key Westconsin.

The majority of the artists who were selected to paint the 10-foot-tall guitars and the playable guitars that will be throughout downtown Waukesha as part of the Gibson GuitarTown are from Waukesha.

According to a news release from Carroll University, five of the artists have ties to Carroll University. Here is the information from that press release:

Amy Cropper, associate professor of art, is a mixed media artist. Peggy Thurston Farrell, assistant professor of art, works in textiles and screen printing. Wis Guthrie, professor emeritus of art, creates found art sculptures. He will work with his son Jim and grandson Ryan. Charles Wickler, an adjunct instructor of art, creates mixed media paintings and pastel drawings. Andy Fletcher earned a bachelor’s degree in art from Carroll in 2000, and paints rural landscapes.

Additionally, Carroll photography students will pair up with each of the artists to document the creative progress in a photo log.
