Great Lakes Water Discussion on Waukesha Water Commission Agenda
Commissioners will receive and update on city’s application for Lake Michigan water.
The Waukesha Water Commission will be updated on the Great Lakes application process during its meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Waukesha Water Utility, 115 Delafield St
The commissioners also will review the history of the water rates of the city’s potential water suppliers, which are Milwaukee, Oak Creek and Racine.
Facing a June 2018 deadline to reduce radium from its water supply, the city is applying for Lake Michigan through the Great Lakes Compact. If all necessary approvals are successful, the city would pipe water from any of the three Lake Michigan communities and return it to the lake.
In other water commission action, the commissioners will meet in closed session to discuss performance evaluations and compensation for non-union employees and Waukesha Water Utility General Manager Dan Duchniak.
