A Waukesha business specializing in waterproofing and insulation products is looking to expand while adding 18 jobs.

Gaco Western is requesting a $650,000 traditional tax incremental financing package from the city. The funding provided by the city would be paid off by the increase taxes on the property, if approved by the city, according to Scrima.

The city has been in conversations with Gaco Western for months, Scrima said Wednesday evening.

“The process is moving forward immediately,” Scrima told Waukesha Patch. “We will be moving it through the normal approval process.”

Gaco Western is looking to add 80,000 square feet to its facility while increasing its laboratory areas, the release states. The expansion would consolidate all manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations.

The new jobs range from the warehouse to a senior research chemist position.

“The expansion of the Waukesha facility will secure a strong base in the community and allow for future growth, which is fueled by our innovative technologies,” said Eric Zimmerman, vice president of operations and general manger of Gaco Western.

Gaco Western currently operates a facility in Washington State, Scrima said.

"They are consolidating their operations to Wisconsin, so that is great news for Wisconsin and, specifically, it is great news for Waukesha," Scrima said.
