Former Fire Chief, Alderman Dies at Age 78

Jerome A. "Jerry" Seidl, Sr., passed away July 25 in Florida.

Jerome A. “Jerry” Seidl, Sr., of The Villages in Florida, (formerly of Waukesha), died on July 25, 2012, at the age of 78 years.

Jerry was born on Dec. 15, 1933, in Milwaukee, the son of Francis (Frank) and Irene (nee Hoernke) Seidl. Jerry enjoyed life and was dedicated to his wife and family. He spent his career serving his community in Wisconsin before retiring to Florida in 2001. While in Wisconsin, Jerry was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross (Milwaukee) Western Regional Planning Committee, the Board of Directors of The American Heart Association, the Waukesha Masonic Lodge 0037, a Thirty Second Degree Mason of the Valley of Milwaukee, member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Milwaukee, Jesters, National Sojourners Milwaukee Chapter No. 27 and Past Potentate of the Tripoli Temple of Milwaukee.

Jerry proudly served the city of Waukesha as a firefighter for 34 years. He retired as the fire chief and as an elected city alderman for six years. After retiring to Florida, Jerry became active in American Legion Post 0400, member of The Villages Concert and Sunshine Stroller Marching Bands. He was past president of the Belle Aire Social club and managed the Belle Aire Men’s Softball team. He won numerous metals in the Senior Olympic Games in basketball and bowling and enjoyed playing golf and bocce ball.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda (nee Stuberg) whom he married on Oct. 6, 1956; his son, Jerome “Jerry” (Pamela) Seidl Jr. of Burlington, WI; his grandchildren, Jerome “Jerry” (Chelsea) Seidl III of Waukesha, WI, Adam (Candace) Seidl of Monmouth, IL, Ashleigh (Julio) Moreno of Burlington, WI, and Amy (Jeff) Smith of Burlington, WI; great grandchildren, Elena, Michael, Veronica, Zach, Hayleigh, Jordyn, Chase, Makayla, Abby, Savana, Emory, Mateo and Autumn; his brothers, Francis Seidl of Oxford, FL and Eugene (Marcy) Seidl of Milwaukee, WI; his niece, Julianne (Jim) Trzcinko of Milwaukee, WI; his nephew, Allen Seidl of Woodstock, GA; his great nieces and great nephews, Grayson, Natalie, Alyssa and Nicholas.

The visitation for Jerry will be on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from 3 p.m. until the 7 p.m. Masonic Service, followed by the religious memorial service at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The VFW Post will begin their walk through ceremony at 3 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in Florida on Aug.11, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church.
