When Rox Bar & Grille owners and brothers Peter and Dennis Hronis and bar manager Dino Giacomantonio were trying to describe the new business, they found it difficult classify the new business perfectly.

I’m hard pressed to define it as anything specific,” Giacomantonio said. “We have 22 TVs but we are not willing to call it a sports bar. We have over 50 different whiskeys, and I would love to call it a casual whiskey bar.

“… Sometimes women don’t feel comfortable talking about going to sports bar. It’s dressed up for everything. For the women, we are a whisky lounge. For the guys, we are a sports bar.”

The bar has a full food and drink menu, including martinis.

“We are hoping to get a little bit of everything,” said Dennis Hronis. “Some sports fans, some music lovers, we are trying to make it comfortable for even ladies if they want to go out and stay safe.”

The bar/eatery is now open and they’ve planed their grand opening/kickoff at 8 p.m. Jan. 13. The bar is located at 2820 N. Grandview Blvd. is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Food is served until 10 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and until midnight Thursdays through Saturdays.

“It has been in the works for a couple of years,” said Peter Hronis, whose son-in-law is Giacomantonio. “…  We were looking for the right time to open in the economy.”

The owners had to secure financing and went through city approvals for the 3,042-square-foot addition to the Spring City Restaurant building, which is also owned by the Hronis brothers.

They have owned the property for about seven years and Spring City Restaurant has been open for about six years.

“We had the property here ­– the property to enhance the restaurant,” said Dennis Hronis about their decision to expand at the Spring City Restaurant site.
