Bob, I always appreciate a good "compare and contrast" response. However, the recall process is 100% legal, as is freedom of speech. The 14 Dems who withdrew did this state a great service in my opinion. They drew national attention to the evolving situation in Wisconsin where an ALEC governor was causing polarization with misrepresentations and lies of omission (union stripping).

No matter how much you disagree with the recall (and I still cannot understand how people can still support Scott Walker), for one political party to try to manipulate the primary process of another does not compare.

In the first place, if Scott Walker had fulfilled his campaign promise to "negotiate with public employee unions" and been respectful of the fact that they had already been given furloughs in the latter days of the Doyle administration, he might not even be facing recall right now. But instead he preferred to--what did he call it when he was speaking to the fake David Koch?--"drop the bomb." That sort of sets a tone, wouldn't you agree?

I'd like to know your thoughts if the situation were reversed and Democrats were putting in their own "fake Republicans" to force primaries. I doubt you would be sanguine about it.

@Bren... You might recall that the Democrats ran a 'fake Republican' in 2010. Andrew Wisniewski ran as a 'fake-Republican' in Wisconsin Assembly District 25, against Bob Ziegelbaur.

Bob, we'll have to respectfully disagree. If the one fact alone that Scott Walker is the first Wisconsin governor to hire a criminal defense team doesn't throw a bitter wind against your sails, how will any other documented facts convince you? But if ALEC's major corporate supporters walk away (except big funder Koch Industries I expect), will you at least concede that this might not be the best organization to be guiding our governor and state?

Bob, I appreciate your position. I had asked at the time that law team was hired why the governor couldn't use state legal counsel during the investigation, without a response. It wasn't until they were hired that I considered that Scott Walker might be personally involved in the case. After all, he has been known since County Exec days to not surround himself with the" best and brightest," hence the costly maneuvers and mistakes.

Frankly, I don't feel like a "sore loser" for supporting the recall. I didn't vote for him as his antics as County Executive convinced me that he lacked leadership skills. The extreme polarization he has caused has justified my concern. His lies of omission concerning his true intentions during his campaign are egregious and require accountability. The recall election provides opportunity for the people of Wisconsin to decide whether they want a governor for Wisconsin or for ALEC/Big Business.

As the ALEC story continues to unfold and the nationally known companies continue to state their opposition to the Stand Your Ground-type legislation they inadvertently supported, I think more Wisconsinites will appreciate the danger to public and economic security posed by having an ALEC puppet in the governor's seat.

If you won't pay attention to all the data out there about ALEC and the Koch Brothers, listen to Coca Cola!

I have no patience for hijinks, it's why I'm an independent. But I believe that the unparalleled and growing strength of multinational entities is a concern, particularly when they meddle in our democracy to the degree that they have already done.

Righty talk show hosts said at least 25%, maybe more, would be tossed.

When the review by state officials was finished, roughly 3% of over 900,000 signatures gathered by meticulously-careful gatherers, were discarded as illegible, duplicated or otherwise unacceptable. 97% is a great score in just about any contest or examination...

That $ amount was guesstimated by Walker before any estimates of damage we assessed- NOT lied about. It wasn't even close to the 'We have dropped off 1,000,000 signatures to recall Walker' - now THAT IS A LIE!! Or maybe Mike Tate just can't count?!?

Please note, that I said "seems to be" as I am not an expert on the law or the interpretation of it. I posted as I thought it might add dimension to the article and comments. Thank you for your comments and reminders of moderates who are not really affiliated with the party they suggest they are.

Morninmist, did you happen to learn how many new Wisconsin jobs are being created by all of these measures?

Questions for the ladies: Does it matter that you can't sue your employer if you find that you are not receiving the same pay as male counterparts? Or that abortion is no longer covered on your insurance even though you are unlikely to get a discount because of lessened coverage?

Questions for the men: Do you appreciate not having instruction about contraceptives not being reinforced to your male teenage offspring in school? And that if your son gets a girl pregnant because he didn't get that reinforcement, an abortion will be that much more expensive for you as it's no longer covered?

Question for all: Do you appreciate a government so large that it now dictates a subjective extreme right-wing "morality" on your personal behavior?

You don't have to respond to me, please take your answer to the voting booth in the recall election.

Clark, it's naive to think that adults can't live with disappointment. Certainly it's not the first time an election has been held and a preferred candidate doesn't win. What makes this situation any different? Because the situation is egregious and it is bigger than Wisconsin. Scott Walker is promoting the ALEC agenda at the expense of our state and indirectly our country and it cannot continue.

Voters selected Scott Walker because of his Jobs Jobs Jobs platform. They are not to be blamed for the complete misrepresentation and lie of omission that Scott Walker's campaign turned out to be. But it needs to be stopped. Are there any new jobs in the flurry of bills Walker just signed? Abortion restriction bills, contraceptive education in high school (when it is most useful), etc.?

You might accept sedition for profit Clark but there are many patriotic Americans who don't. You'll just have to choose for yourself.

MADISON -- Cleaning and restoring the state Capitol after last year's massive protests will cost about $200,000, according to the state Department of Administration, a total millions of dollars less than a state official's controversial initial estimate of $7.5 million.

The only LIE I've heard is from Mike Tate 'we have delivered 1,000,000 signatures to recall Walker'. Yeah, not even close. Can he actually count?!

The capitol cleanup was an ESTIMATE, and a super wild one at that. Mike Huebsch estimate was based on typical damage to the marble caused by the tape residue. As it turned out the damage was minimal and fairly easily buffed out since it was not on for too long of a time.
Still, $43,00 to clean up tape that should not have been their in the first place is too much. I had no problem with the protesters being in the building during BUSINESS HOURS, I had no problem with the protesters bringing in HAND_HELD signs, and I had no problem with the traffic mess created around the square due to all the protesters. But this group went waaaaaaaaay too far in everything it did.

Keep dreaming- don't fall off the ledge!!
