Waukesha Man Charged After Going Into Wrong House, Drunk

Man is found wearing bathrobe and swim trunks after wandering into an unknown house.

A 22-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he got drunk and wandered into the wrong house after a party in April.

Michael A. Mitchels was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of criminal trespass and one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 3:50 a.m. April 21, a man living in the 2400 block of Fox River Parkway noticed it was cold in his house, so he went downstairs to shut his patio door, but when he got down there, he saw a man sitting on the top of his basement steps mumbling to himself.

The man called police and followed Mitchels into his garage, where he sat down. When the officer’s arrived, Mitchels, who was wearing swim trunks, a t-shirt, bathrobe and socks with no shoes, tried to get up, but appeared heavily intoxicated.

The officer recognized Mitchels from a previous contact several days before the incident. He said he had been at a party earlier and now had no idea where he was.

He will make his initial appearance in court July 9.
