Congress Is Better Than ...

Polling experts have found it worse than Nickelback, better than North Korea. How does it compare to Jay Cutler or mosquitoes?

Who knew the wonks at Public Policy Polling had a sense of humor?

After finding Congress had an overall approval rating of 9 percent, they went a step further and asked people to compare our national legislative body to all manner of random, generally unpleasant things. They found Congress to be more repulsive than:

Luckily for our congressional leaders, they were not seen as distasteful as:

  • North Korea
  • gonorrhea
  • Lindsey Lohan

Inspired by this, Patch is asking Milwaukee-area folks to compare Congress with things more reviled on a regional basis. Is Congress better or worse than our bloodthirsty summer mosquitoes, a blasphemous vegan bratwurst, or pouty Bears quarterback Jay Cutler? Vote in our polls, then discuss in the comments.

you think their approval rating is bad now - wait until they start paying everyone with IOU's - their new idea if they don't pass the debt limit is to pay people on Social Security, owed a tax refund, and workers with IOU's. Check out this article at govexec.com- latest-debt-ceiling-proposal-issue-ious (sorry I tried to paste the link but it wouldn't work).

Congress is similar to swimming in a lake of diarrhea with a speedboat constantly passing you 3 inches away.

None of the above. Can we put a 2-term limit on these positions so that they are no l longer a defacto aristocracy? US Congress at times, with its abundance of members too old to think clearly much less keep pace with society, resembles the many aristocratic governments of centuries past and the despotic regimes oft criticized today.

If one party has come to completely own its constituency, we could at least force the change to a new figurehead more often than once in 30 years.

I used to occasionally have encounters through various groups with different Congressmen. If I ever encountered another one, I'd have to do my best to refrain from spitting in their face. I know I would not be able to stop from swearing and/or calling them by some very offensive name. About the only people whom I would regard lower than a member of Congress is a class action lawyer.

I'm ripping this off a commercial, but Congress "working" is like a dentist sneezing in your mouth while working on it.
