City of Waukesha Posts Information About Voter ID Law

Deputy clerk/treasurer warns that people need to get their identification cards early in preparation of elections.

The City of Waukesha’s website now has information about the state’s Voter ID Law and what the city will be looking for in upcoming elections.

While identification cards can be obtained at no charge from the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles for those who do not have a Wisconsin driver’s license, Gina Kozlik warned that people should get their identification cards early. Waiting until the last minute will not cut it on Election Day.

“There is about a six-week turnaround,” Kozlik said about the state-issued identification cards.

For people who have recently moved, the address on the ID does not need to be current. The city poll workers will need a photo ID, though, in order for a resident to vote.
