Shrieking ladies of all ladies got a little dirty as they crawled through the mud, dashed over hay bales and climbed ropes during the Dirty Girl Mud Run at the Waukesha County Expo.
Undercover Heroin Bust Leads to Arrests of Familiar Faces
A Sussex woman and two men are facing multiple felony charges after they allegedly sold heroin to undercover Waukesha police officers on several occasions since June.
Ada Lala, 23, of Sussex, Tony Malkiewicz, 27, of Colagate, and Robert L. Orrey, 42, of Milwaukee, were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with 13 different drug related charges. If convicted, Lala faces up to 56 years in prison, Malkiewicz faces up to 29 years in prison and Orrey faces up to 47 years in prison.
'Hostile Work Environment' Leads to BID Executive Director's Resignation
Accusing leaders of the Waukesha Business Improvement District of "excessive bullying" and treating its staff in a "disgraceful manner," the executive director of the organization has resigned.
Meghan Sprager, who has been on the job for just more than a year, will stay with the BID through the conclusion of Art Fest on Sept. 8.
Primary Election Preview: Waukesha County Clerk
The three candidates running for the Waukesha County clerk’s post on the Republican ticket all want to see election night result reporting improved while restoring public trust and confidence in the office.
Election night snafus are well documented in the clerk’s office. Under intense scrutiny, Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus decided she was no longer running for the seat. Meanwhile, costs to fix election-related problems in the office are exceeding $250,000.
Maid-Rite Now Open in Waukesha
Maid-Rite, a loose-meat sandwich restaurant with malts and more, opened quietly over the weekend.
Alderman Vance Skinner opened the business with his partner, Brendan Barrett, because he grew up eating at the Maid-Rite franchise in Iowa.
The word about the new business is already out as a line formed behind the cash register. One gentleman in line commented that he had also grown up eating Maid-Rite.
