Complaint: Area Felon Steals Gun For Money Dispute
Suspect steals a gun from his cousin's wife after she refuses to let him borrow it to get $400 from another person who owes him, according to a criminal complaint.
A 35-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he allegedly took his cousin’s wife’s gun without her permission so he could use it to get money from someone who owed him.
David J. Grauer was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Saturday, Grauer went by his cousin’s wife’s home in the 200 block of Maria Street and asked the woman if he could borrow her gun so he could get $400 from a man who owed him money. She said 'No' and went upstairs to tend to her children. She came back down later to find Grauer leaving with his girlfriend.
She later went to go check on the gun and noticed it was missing so she called her husband, who called Grauer and demanded he bring the gun back. Grauer did bring the gun back and wiped it off before giving it back to the woman and begged her to not call the cops.
She eventually did call police and Grauer denied having possession of the gun. He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $1,500 bond.
