Another Challenger Comes Forward in Waukesha County Clerk Race, Report Says

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel identifies Kathy Karalewitz as seeking the elected position.

Kathy Karalewitz, a clerk that has held various posts throughout Waukesha County, is running against Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus, according the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Karalewitz intends to file paperwork Thursday, according to the article. The Waukesha County Democratic Party is also looking to bring a candidate and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has named Sussex resident Jessie Reid as that candidate.

An election packed full of candidates would not surprise many people following intense scrutiny of the Waukesha County clerk’s office this year.

Nickolaus made national news this spring when she failed to release the City of Brookfield's results from the hotly contested state Supreme Court race between David Prosser and JoAnne Kloppenburg. The snafu caused Kloppenburg to declare victory when Prosser actually had won the election.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Menomonee Falls boy made headlines after filing paperwork running for the position as a prank.
