2 Waukesha Aldermen Not Seeking Re-Election in April

Rick Tortomasi and Paul Furrer inform clerk/treasurer’s office they will not run in spring election.

Two Waukesha aldermen, Rick Tortomasi and Paul Furrer, are officially not seeking re-election in the spring election, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Gina Kozlik said Tuesday.

The other aldermen seeking re-election have already filed paperwork indicating their plans to run for the public office.

All candidates interested in the public office need to turn in their nomination papers by 5 p.m. Jan. 4.

Furrer announced at a recent Common Council meeting he would not seek re-election in order to spend time with his family. Tortomasi did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Brian White has filed candidacy papers to replace Furrer in District 6, but has not yet filed nomination papers.

In Tortomasi's district, District 13, three people have expressed interest in the seat. Andy Reiland took out papers but has not filed the papers. Phil Esche filed his nomination papers Monday. The city's retiring building inspector, Richard Badke, filed his declaration of candidacy Monday and is circulating his nomination papers.

Aldermen Eric Payne, John Kalblinger and Steve Johnson have turned in their nomination papers, securing a space on the ballot for districts two, seven and 10, respectively. Alderman Chris Hernandez, District 3, has taken out his paperwork but has not yet turned in his nomination papers.

The four aldermen seeking re-election do not have challengers.
