Marion D. Rice, of Waukesha, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Waukesha Springs at the age of 91.
She was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 26, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Cecelia (nee Blecha) Smitka. On June 28, 1947 she married Daniel Rice in Bayview, WI; he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2000. Marion worked as a teacher’s aide for Greendale High School for many years until her retirement in 1972.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Colleen (William) Mueller, Jennifer (David) Powers, and Katherine (Daniel) Beaudry, son-in-law Bruce Arendt, and six grandchildren: Nicole Arendt, Heidi and Linda Mueller, Michael Powers, and Renee and Daniel Beaudry. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Daniel and her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Priscilla Arendt on July 30, 1998, and by her brother.
